Honestly, I’m not old enough to remember 8-bit gaming fondly, but there is something to be said about old school gaming versus the fancy schmancy shoot’em ups that you kids love these days. And of course by “something” I mean, it’s nice to look back and think, oh, how simple and side-scrolling-tastic they were back “in the day”.
In honor of Timur Bekmambetov’s historical “re-imagining” of Abraham Lincoln’s life and times, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” opening everywhere today, the boys and gals at freddiew have slapped together this video of what a game version of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” would look like if the movie came out, you know, back then. Yes, they did were turning Hollywood blockbuster movies into poorly conceived games even back then, albeit with less regularity than they do now. Nowadays, quickie games based on movies are almost required, rather it’s a good idea or not. Having said that: Speech Attack for the win!
Anyhoo, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” opens today. Give it a shot. It’s a hoot and a half.
