In Boring Real-Life News: Disney Buys Marvel for $4 Billion

Comic Book Movie News — By Nix on August 31, 2009

The big news from this morning has the trades reporting that Disney has just announced the purchase of Marvel Studios (home of the Hulk, Captain America, Avengers, and generally cool superheroes) for a princely sum of $4 billion dollars. Marvel shareholders will be getting paid, and the deal is expected to wrap up by the end of the year once Obama’s people approves it. But the big question is, what does this mean for Marvel’s legion of characters and their respective movie adaptations? Disney says nothing will change with the deals that Marvel already put in place before the purchase.

More boring real-life news as it develops, probably next year or so when Disney starts to make their presence in the Marvel-verse known, for good or ill.

Hey, did you hear? Disney just bought us. You know what that means: free rides at Disney World!
