So I guess that previously talked about female version of “The Expendables” is a go after all. To be honest with you, I wasn’t sure if the guys behind it was being serious or just pulling everyone’s leg. Turns out, yeah, they were dead serious after all.
Especially in light of this news that Gina Carano (last seen kicking ass in “Haywire”, and soon be kicking ass in “The Fast and the Furious 6″ and “In the Blood”, where she will once again play the lead in the “Taken”-esque movie) is the first actor to be attached in a starring role.
From the sounds of it, it appears as if Carano will be playing the film’s Sylvester Stallone character — i.e. the lead, or as lead-ish as you can get in a movie starring a bunch of well-known action heroes.
Carano will star in the still untitled movie for producer Adi Shankar and his 1984 Private Defense Contractors shingle. Shankar is said to be currently in talks with “several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre” to sign up alongside Carano.
Dutch Southern will write the script.
So, who else should Shankar be putting on his to-talk-to list? And what exactly would we call this movie? If “The Expendables” is “The Expendables”, and this is an all-female version, then how about … “The Looks Can Killers”? No? Hey, I’m just spitballing here. You try doing better.
