It’s amazing to see all the traction James Wan’s “Insidious” series is getting, especially when you consider that the first movie played the festival circuits for a couple of years before it even landed theatrical distribution. But the film did finally get a release, and even proved to be a major surprise hit, netting a nice chunk of cash for what was then a low-budget horror movie (well, at least by Hollywood comparisons). A year later, the sequel (“Chapter 2″) is set to invade theaters, and looks like it has a slightly bigger budget, though probably not by very much. You can check out the first trailer for it below.

Question: what’s creepier than a chick in a white dress singing lullabies to your baby? A sorta fat guy (without a shirt) appearing right in front of you in the dark. Brrr.

The famed horror team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell reunite with the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins in INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, a terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.

Starring Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson, Barbara Hershey, Lin Shaye, Michael Beach, Leigh Whannell, Danielle Bisutti, and Ty Simpkins.

Insidiously in theaters this September 13, 2013. Which happens to be Friday the 13th. Oh, I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. Probably.

Anyone else remember the tagline for the fictional movie “The Freak” from “Crazy People”?: “This movie won’t just scare you… it’ll fuck you up for life!!”

I liked the first one and I’m sure that this one will be good. However, the ending of the original is completely undone. I understand the reason for a second one but it is a shame that the creepy reveal at the end of the first movie is thrown away for the sake of a cash grab.
