Special effects can seemingly do anything, but can they can turn a 67-year-old man into an action star? People has a snippet from Harrison Ford’s interview with the French magazine Le Figaro.
“The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I’ll be very happy to put the costume on again.”
Indiana Jones is starting to become a lot like the Rocky series: it shows the phases of a man’s life that strangely begins to reflect the life of the actor himself. All that’s left is for a compelling framework of a story in which Ford can place himself, but it seems almost certain that Spielberg and Lucas would opt to build on Ford’s portrayal instead of moving on to something else. It’s a direction that would probably be built into the script from the start. Otherwise, would Shia LaBeouf take over, or would they try to recast Indiana Jones? Neither seems all that likely after Ford’s latest comments. But then, who didn’t expect Ford to return?
