With “Fast Five”, the fifth in the “Fast and Furious” franchise expected to break some records when it opens later this month on April 29th, Universal is already jumping the gun and plotting the exploits of Toretto and company via a sixth movie, and have assigned writer Chris Morgan to the task.
Morgan has written three installments in the franchise so far, including the upcoming fifth one, but also counts films like “Wanted” and the Chris Evans 2004 thriller “Cellular” among his credits. He’s now signed a two-year first look deal with Universal, with “The Fast and Furious 6″ being the first project on his plate.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that it won’t take too much to bring the core cast back for a sixth movie, especially if the fifth one does as well as everyone expects. Of course, the paycheck may get a little higher, but I don’t see Walker, Diesel, et al turning down another surefire hit.
