Insanely Gory New Clip from Jon Harris’ The Descent: Part 2

Horror Movie News, The Descent 2 (2009) Movie, Videos — By Todd Rigney on December 4, 2009 |

the_descent_2As intense and brutally insane as the latest clip from “The Descent: Part 2″ may be, I’m still not completely sold on the idea of a sequel. Neil Marshall’s taut subterranean horror opus is, in my humble opinion, an almost perfect film, and I’d hate for someone else to stick their infected toe in this tranquil cinematic pool and completely infect the delicate ecosystem. As hopeful and enthusiastic as I’d like to be about the movie, there’s a tiny little voice lurking in the back of my cluttered mind that keeps screaming “REHASH!” at the top of its lungs whenever I watch or read anything related to the project. Then again, maybe I should just take my pills and settle down for a little while.

In case you missed it, here’s the synopsis:

Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. Unable to plausibly explain to the authorities what happened – or why she’s covered in her friends’ blood – Sarah is forced back to the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing companions. As the rescue party drives deeper into uncharted caverns, nightmarish visions of the recent past begin to haunt Sarah and she starts to realize the full horror and futility of the mission. Subjected to the suspicion and mistrust of the group and confronted once more by the inbred, feral and savagely ruthless Crawlers, Sarah must draw on all her inner reserves of strength and courage in a desperate final struggle for deliverance and redemption.

“The Descent: Part 2″ is in UK theaters are this very moment. Those of us in the US are just gonna have to wait awhile. Damn it all. Kudos to IGN for the clip.

Please correct me if im wrong but isnt this almost exactly the same plot line for ALIENS with Sigorney Weaver. Way to be orignal. This movie did not, i repeat did not need a sequel. This is just another money grabbing attempt at movie producers to take advantage of the ignorant masses that will gobble any thing thrown in front of them much like the Crawlers (think thats a pretty dumb name just to note)that highlighted the first film.

According to IMDB the US and UK versions are different. So what I saw was the UK version, which is the original version.

But even the US ending, which simply removes the UK version's final segment, suggests that it's not really happening.

She got out in the theatrical version, the hallucination was on the directors cut. The fact that Juno is still alive is odd though, but adds for more excitement
  • i will wait this movie

"Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system..."

Uh... really? I'm pretty sure she died in the first movie. The part where she got back to the surface was a hallucination, it didn't happen.
  • Well apparently, I've read, that they are continuing from that spot and getting her out... for real.
