Usually it’s the domestic trailers that sell the explosions and fisticuffs, trying to draw in the troglodytic American audience with loud noises and physical violence, cause you know, we’re simple people that way. Someone apparently didn’t tell the guy who cut the International trailer for Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes”, because whereas the first Stateside trailer sold the movie on the charms of Robert Downey Jr.’s titular Sherlock Holmes, this one really packs in the punches, explosions, and yeah, more punches.
In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous characters, “Sherlock Holmes” sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Kelly Reilly, and directed by Guy Ritchie.
Sherlock Holmes takes a punch December 25, 2009.
