International Splice Trailer Pours on the Creature Features

If you’ve never seen any of the previous trailers for Vincenzo Natali’s upcoming “Splice”, and this is your first exposure, you might think the film is a creature feature/horror movie, one of those “experiments gone amok” types that usually show up on the Sci Fi Channel — er, I mean, the Sy Fy Channel. Well you probably wouldn’t be too wrong. It’s probably the most commercial film Natali has done yet, and as a fan of his, I hope it does well when it opens next month so he can have the resources he needs to make bigger and better movies. Check out the International trailer for “Splice” below via Bloody-Disgusting.

Superstar genetic engineers Clive (Adrien Brody) and Elsa (Sarah Polley) specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create incredible new hybrids. Now they want to use human DNA in a hybrid that could revolutionize science and medicine. But when the pharmaceutical company that funds their research forbids it, Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiments. The result is Dren, an amazing, strangely beautiful creature of uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments. And though, at first, Dren exceeds their wildest dreams, she begins to grow and learn at an accelerated rate – and threatens to become their worst nightmare.

Starring Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, Delphine Chanéac, David Hewlett, Abigail Chu, Stephanie Baird, Amanda Brugel, Brandon McGibbon, and directed by Vincenzo Natali.

Get spliced June 4, 2010.
