A pair of “Iron Man 2” updates for ya. In an interview with Collider.com while promoting his “The Soloist” (which co-stars crude loudmouth Jamie Foxx), “Iron Man 2” star Robert Downey Jr. chooses some strange things to say about the upcoming sequel. Besides guaranteeing a 2009 Comic Con appearance, RDJ also calls the story of the sequel “incredibly risky and artistic for a big genre movie”, which I’m not so sure about. Making a movie about two drunks in a bar talking about their ex-wives is risky; making a sequel to one of the biggest comic book movies of all time is not so much.
Meanwhile, THR reports that actress Kate Mara has joined the cast of “Iron Man 2”, while actor Clark Gregg will reprise his Agent Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. role from the first movie. No word on what role Mara (previously in the Mark Wahlberg actioner “Shooter”) will play in the movie, but I’m guessing it has to be one of those “crazy-hot” roles, because let’s face it, Kate Mara has a great face for stalker/obsessed/I’m scared of her but really turned on by her at the same time type of characters.
“Iron Man 2” boot jets into theaters May 7, 2010.
Below: Hey, Kate Mara, is that a shotgun in your hands or are you just happy to see me?
