You’ll neeeeeevah see the Mandarin coming in “Iron Man 3”, but you will see a pair of Chinese folks that probably have minor roles in the movie spliced into this new Chinese cut of the trailer. Everything else is the same as the trailer we posted yesterday, though it’s kind of interesting to see ol shellhead surrounded by a bunch of Chinese kids in one quick scene. What was that about?
“Iron Man 3” has a lot of Chinese money in it, in case you’re wondering why those folks get their own trailer. This was also one reason why I was sure the Mandarin could never possibly appear as the film’s villain (the Chinese, er, really do not like to be seen as villains in movies if they can help it), but seeing as how the Mandarin is played by Ben Kingsley, a decidedly not Chinese looking fellow, and he talks like a cross between a pothead and a Valley Girl, I guess you’re never going to confuse him for being “Chinese”. So, you know, it’s okay.
Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
