Iron Man Makes Things Go Boom in New Trailer for Iron Man: Rise of Technovore

Iron Man Rise of Technovore (2013) Movie Blu-ray Cover

I don’t know what a “technovore” is, but it’s rising in the original, Japanese-produced (one look at the Black Widow’s hair and you sorta knew that, right?) Iron Man animated movie “Iron Man: Rise of Technovore”, which is set to hit DVD and Blu-ray this April 16, 2013. Until then, check out a second trailer for the movie.

Have to say, I’m still not sure what the Punisher is doing in a movie about armored guys fighting it out with lasers and whatnot. He’s a tad out of his league, don’t you think? On the plus side, he’s voiced by Norman Reedus, Daryl Dixon himself from “The Walking Dead”. So there’s that.

Billionaire Tony Stark, in his Iron Man armor, prevents an attack from a mysterious new foe, but innocent bystanders are killed, including his best friend War Machine, Lt. Colonel James Rhodes. Detained for questioning by S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man escapes, determined to find the mastermind behind the attack. Pursued by Black Widow and Hawkeye, Iron Man enlists the help of the ruthless vigilante The Punisher. But can the Armored Avenger handle what he finds when he catches the person responsible and is forced to face his deadliest weapon, a biotechnology called Technovore that could wipe out all life on the planet?

Also featuring the voices of Matthew Mercer as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Clare Grant as the Black Widow.

Can’t wait to see this. If only to hear Reedus voice the Punisher!! But I’m interested in this anyway. I liked the IM anime last year so this should be good.

I just wish [as with DC] that Marvel would put out movies with characters other than those in their mainstream movies. I’m getting IM overload. Would a period piece on the Invaders or the ’70s Defenders kill anyone?

No but it probably wouldn’t do well either except hardcore fans. I agree they need to think outside the box a bit, which is why I like their animated shows and get so mad when they cancel them. An Iron Fist anime would be perfect! A Deadpool anime would rock! A Doctor Strange (not american made animated movie like the last, though i enjoyed that) would work so well in an anime format. The list really does go on and on.

I’d like to see a Micronauts. That would translate into a toy line as well for them.
