According to Deadline, it’s entirely possible that Marvel is, at this moment, working on a TV show based on the Peggy Carter character played by Hayley Atwell in “Captain America: The First Avenger”, and once again in the upcoming “Agent Carter” one-shot that will be released along with the “Iron Man 3” DVD/Blu-ray .
Of course, a potential TV series is still in the very early stages — the “concepts” stages — but they’re apparently far enough along that they’re currently looking for a writer for the project. There’s no word, though, if Atwell will reprise the role one more time if the show does go to series.
“Agent Carter” is a one-shot episode directed by Marvel co-prez Louis D’Esposito, and would follow in the footsteps of ABC’s “Agents of SHIELD”, which was an off-shoot of a couple of Marvel one-shots starring Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson and the agents of SHIELD.
So yeah, there is precedence for this. Of course, the success (or failure) of “Agents of SHIELD” might ultimately decide whether an “Agent Carter” TV series goes forward. And if it does, will it be a period show? And will Atwell return?
Until then, you can watch the whole “Agent Carter” one-shot on the “Iron Man 3” DVD/Blu-ray that will be released this September 24th.
