Is AMC Looking to Slice The Walking Dead’s Season 2 Budget?

Why would you mess with a hit show? You’ll have to ask AMC that, because if Frank Darabont is correct, then the cable network is looking to cut his budget by enough of a margin that the writer/director/producer and showrunner of “The Walking Dead” is sounding a little worried. Here’s what he said during a recent roundtable with THR:

Creatively I have no complaints thus far. But I believe if they do move ahead with what they’re talking about, it will affect the show creatively … in a negative way. Which just strikes me as odd. If you have an asset, why would you punish it?

So you have a hit show, the network’s BIGGEST hit, actually, and you want to mess with it by taking away some of the money? That’s just dumb.

Season 2 of “The Walking Dead” is due, if AMC keeps to their timetable, in October.

Here’s the full roundtable talk with Darabont and others:

    Agree!.

You need to spend a buck to make a buck. Seems to be studio suits didn’t learn that lesson.
