Is Jessica Biel Thor’s Asgardian Warrior Babe Sif?

Maybe. The current rumor has Jessica Biel circling a role in Marvel Studio’s “Thor”. According to the boys over at NukeTheFridge, a source “from deep within” has told them that Jessica Biel is currently in negotiations to play Thor’s love interest in Kenneth Branagh’s big-budget live-action version of Marvel’s Thunder God. The last time we heard about a love interest for Thor, it involved a ridiculous rumor that had Natalie Portman in the role.

Why is that ridiculous? Well, we’ve been told that the “Thor” movie will take place almost completely in Asgard, which would mean the skinny and petite Portman would have to play an Asgardian warrior. No dice there, chief. Jessica Biel, on the other hand, could definitely fill out an Asgard battle armor something fierce, and she certainly knows how to fight. (”Blade: Trinity”, anyone?)

NukeTheFridge speculates that if their source is on the money, it would mean Biel will be playing either The Enchantress or Sif. Most likely it’s the latter, as the former is an evil sorceress who wants to make Thor fall in love with her through the use of magic, so that sort of disqualifies her as a “love interest”. Both characters were featured in the recent animated movie “Hulk vs. Thor”, which NTF’s source says the love interest role also appears. Again, in the animated movie, Sif is clearly Thor’s girl.

Biel as Sif would actually be a very good fit. She’s tall and physical enough for the role. Though to be honest, I think it might be more entertaining to see Biel as The Enchantress. She would certainly, er, fill out that evil costume quite well, and in all the right areas, too. Of course, seeing Biel swing a broadsword around wouldn’t be too shabby, either.
