Is Logan Lerman the New Spidey? That’s News to Sony, Apparently.

So who is the new Spidey? Tobey Maguire’s out of the question now that Spidey has gone back to basics, which means once again nerding up the hallways of an American high school and lusting after redheaded girls. According to the boys at Hitfix, “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” star Logan Lerman is “almost 100% locked” to be the new webslinger. As their source, they cite someone “close to the production”. So, Logan Lerman is your new Spidey, right?

Not so fast, says Deadline. Citing their own “insiders at Sony”, Deadline claims that they have been told Lerman is “100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered.” Which basically means either Hitfix is completely wrong, or Deadline is completely wrong.

Obviously they can’t both be right, since there isn’t even any middle ground in terms of agreement. One claims Lerman is not only on the short list to be Spidey, he’s the frontrunner, while the other claims he’s not even on the list. I guess we’ll find out soon enough when Sony sends out one of those fancy press releases announcing their casting.

The “Spider-Man” reboot is scheduled for theaters in 2012, with Marc Webb directing.

'Hi there, kids, I'm Logan Lerman. I'm either Spiderman, or I ain't even close. So confused.'
