The latest casting rumor around the “Planet of the Apes” prequel, currently going under the title “Rise of the Apes” (and “Caesar” before that), comes from Bloody-Disgusting, and has “offers” from the producers going out to actors Don Cheadle and Freida Pinto to take part in their little hairy revolution. Cheadle (left) was recently seen blasting armored baddies in “Iron Man 2” with Robert Downey Jr., and “Slumdog Millionaire” babe Freida Pinto (below) is currently fighting Gods in Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals”.
No word on what characters the duo were offered, but I think it’s a fair bet that Pinto has the love interest part locked up. Of course, they could make Cheadle the love interest, but you know, that would be an entirely different movie altogether. James Franco is the film’s only big-name casting so far. He’ll be playing a human scientist who finds himself in the middle of an ape uprising, led by the genetically engineered ape named Caesar.
British director Rupert Wyatt (“The Escapist”) will be calling the shots for Twentieth Century Fox, who has been trying to get the prequel into production for years now. “Rise of the Apes” arrives in theaters in Summer of 2011.
