Is THIS the Real Cloverfield Monster?

Written by Nix | January 6th, 2008 | 20 Comments |

To be perfectly honest with you, I’m about all Cloverfield out. I mean, it feels like I’ve been covering this thing forever, and I’m not a big monster movie fan to begin with, so you can imagine that this hasn’t exactly been the best part of running the site. But what the hell, a lot of you seem to love talking about this Cloverfield monster stuff, and here’s a picture that MAY (and I stress the may part) be the real Cloverfield monster. Judge for yourself below.

Image via, with the note:

Here’s another interesting Possibility people on my myspace forum titled Cloverfield’s Monster Theories have been posting a picture of this monster who was created by Peter Konig who is Tippett’s art director for the upcoming, top secret JJ Abrahms production “Cloverfield”. Here is a link to the website from where this picture originated. http://www.conceptart.org. Don’t know how true it is but looks more closer to what I see in the trailer then that rancor wanna be.

So? Look good to you? (Thank God this thing is finally coming out…)

Is THIS the Real Cloverfield Monster?

You can drown in more “Cloverfield” crap — er, I mean, viral marketing here.

Well, that looks cooler than the whale/squid thing posted a while back.

The Rancor meets the US Godzilla. A boring and uninspired design.

it looks to much like an alien off of halo 3

Grizz on January 7, 2008

That does sooo look like an Arbiter from Halo! well said andrew! It does look better than that squid/whale/whatever hybrid thing. That what happens when a threesome of an arbiter, a rhinoceros and a rancor get jiggy!!

Ramil de Guzman on January 14, 2008

Well, looks like a dinasour, i just don’t know the name, well, its the dinasour in jurassic park, the one that’s sick. But frankly, i would really love it if its Godzilla…..Godzilla is the ultimate monster.

Francisco on January 15, 2008

is this the real clover field monster if it is this monster sucks every monster has to have spikes on its back so movie producers you guys can do bettr than that but the monster looks pretty cool lolololololol

dubz on January 16, 2008

yeah well looks small for a monster maybe a baby one though..umthe whale theory was really good becuase in the godzilla remake the nuclear explosion deformed that iguana/lizard..maybe it did it to a whale in the ocean.it looks cool…but it’ll be gay if the movie never ever shows the monster since it’s first person account so it’s likely to be like the blaire whitch project

Bob on January 16, 2008

It’ll be gay? Nice. Try replacing the word ‘gay’ with ‘black’ or ‘Jew.’ See what responses you get.

I read on rotten tom from people who saw it, that this is not one of those movies that doesn’t show the monster. It shows the monster plenty.

I also read that its one of those movies that don’t visually scare or creep you out, but do the more “boo!” kinda of scares….

Eric Brooks on January 19, 2008

After seeing the movie last night, it strikes me that even though I saw plenty of the monster on the film…I am not completely sure if the image above is really it or not? It definately wasn’t small! And it didn’t walk upright like this image suggests. Anyone else see the movie yet? I thought it was awesome!

John on January 19, 2008

what is that.
like some sort of mutated lizard?
like godzilla?

Christina on January 19, 2008

this might be it. but i do remember seeing it with a tail in the movie.

te4336 on January 20, 2008

The monster is a cross between a bat, praying mantis and a lizard….also 100% badd-ass for the punishment that it took and was still lumbering around in what was left of the city.

Jix on January 20, 2008

How about a spoiler warning before you post this? I went to see it today and thought it was a refreshing look at a monster/disaster film.
Walking around, he looks part lizard, part insect and part ape

truthsayer on January 20, 2008

not it, not far off though, it had lung sacks on the side of its head, and I think it had two extra arms, like tiny t-rex arms on its chest.

Chris on January 21, 2008

That looks NOTHING like the TWO giant monsters in the film (not including the tinier parasitic monsters that fell off one of them).

SPOILER:

The first giant monster stands upright and has what looked like four to six arms the bottom four are like whale flippers — and its face is flat and has a mouth like the alien in the movie Predator. It also has these red balloon things on the side of its head.

The second giant monster…hard to describe. It walks on four legs — It’s greyish white in color and has super long forearms like an orangatan, legs that are sort of like a frogs — and a long tail that’s shaped like a tadpole’s tail. Really unique and scary looking. It’s face is harder to describe…kind of like a turtle’s beak?

Master Chief on January 21, 2008

I havent seen the movie, did it die in the end? How about I send master chief in and kill it???

110% on January 21, 2008

Ok. There was only one monster in the movie. idk were two came from. but it walked on all fours and had a tail. kinda like a monkey had sex w/ a T-rex. you see plenty of it in the movie. One scene is an arial shot from a helicopter and the second is from right beneath it. That looks nothing like it.

Kid in Class on January 23, 2008

dude…i think that this picture is retarded. It does look like an elit from halo, and a dinoasaur. Lame……if that’s all the monster is I’m gonna be pissed. I did like the giant whale thing that all you guys have been ragging on. It’d be sweet in a monster movie. I can’t wait to see this movie.

Cheesiness on January 30, 2008

that is most definitely NOT the monster in cloverfield. Nothing like it.
