Is This Warner Bros.’ Official Roster for Their Justice League Movie?

Darkseid Comic BookA new year, same ol rumor mongering about the “Justice League” movie. But hey, at least this time, unlike the last few years, we know for a fact that, thanks to Marvel’s “The Avengers”, Warner Bros. and D.C. are gung-ho to make a Justice League movie.

So, what’s the latest word from the D.C. superhero team-up this fresh 2013 morning? According to the site Cosmic Book News, they have a breakdown of the heroes that will be appearing on the JL roster. As always with these stuff, take this with a hefty grain of salt.

Who will be battling Darkseid in the upcoming movie? They are:

Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.

Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn’t really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.

Wonder Woman: She has only been in man’s world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.

Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynold’s character from the Green Lantern movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.

Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.

Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.

Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.

The site says to also expect cameos from Amanda Waller along with the military/Government, Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth, Superman’s gal, Lois Lane, and Darkseid’s Elite, who will be taking on the JL early in the film before their boss’ arrival.

So there you have it. Most of it sounds pretty reasonable, I guess. None of the characters really break from their comic book mold, and even Green Lantern is more serious in the comics than the recent Ryan Reynolds movie version.

Mmmm what about this makes me doubt this? Am I the only one that thinks Aquaman is a bad choice for film?

    • Juggernaut

If done right he could be very cool. If Marvel introduced Namor I’d be all about it! Same could be said for a reconned Aquaman. He would need to be part Namor, part Thor with a twist.

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

If Aquaman is done like his new 52 counterpart and the Justice League version where he’s more monarch/ambasador than hero, then Aquaman can work very well. I like the part Namor, part thor take.

        • Juggernaut

A mix of what you said and the Thor/Namor-esque take would be perfect. I would use him as a stoic, voice of reason on the team. Superman is the leader, Batman the strategist, Green Lantern the cynic, Flash the wild card, Martian Manhunter the seasoned vet and Wonder Woman the warrior. It would be a very well balanced team.

Aquaman has become very popular lately, mainly because of the Brave and the Bold´s take on the character.

Aquaman status as “King of Atlantis”, already tells us everything we need to know about him. He is a leader, and probably has been a hero, for far longer than everyone else. He is more Odin than Thor.

And like the in the video, he can be the one, that inspires the other heroes to unite as the justice league, he can be both Nick Fury, and agent Coulson, in that respect.

This line up works for me. I’m glad to see they pulled their heads out their asses and are using the Man of Steel Superman and Ryan Reynolds GL. Flash sounds like a mix between the Barry Allen and Waly West versions, with more Barry than Wally, and I’m liking all the other takes, especially Martian manhunter. i kinda hope they make him as powerful as he is in the comics, as there was a GREAT storyline where learning to control his fear of fire actually let something very evil out of him.

I also heard that Darkseid will have his Elite to go against the JL. That should be epic!
    Darkseid vs Superman
    Desaad vs Batman
    Kalibak vs Martian Manhunter
    Steppenwolf vs Aquaman
    Amazing Grace vs Wonder Woman
    Doctor Bedlam vs Flash
    Devilance vs Green Lantern

I’ve already though of the cast for the JL
Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman and Ryan Reynolds returning as green Lantern obviously. Cameos by Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Angela Bassett as Amanda Waller and introducing John Cleese as Alfred pennyworth with Armie Hammer as Batman, Lynn Collins as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Flash, Phillip Winchester as Aquaman and Peter Mensah as Martian Manhunter.

Now for the casting of The Elite.

    • Juggernaut

Okay, I’ve had some time to think and here is my cast for Darkseid and his Elite!

      Dennis Haysbert as Darkseid
      Jason Statham as Kalibak
      James Purefoy as Steppenwolf
      Jessica Chastain as Amazing Grace
      Arnold Vosloo as Doctor Bedlam
      Jackie Earle Haley as Desaad
      Gerard Butler as Devilance

      • Jonas

I like your idea of the bad guys having some serious star power. As opposed to the younger heroes.

        • Juggernaut

Thanks. I really feel like if you’re going Darkseid his team needs to be stacked.

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

NICE CASTING!!!! I’m all for something along these lines. Tell me how cool would it be though if it was like Batman and WW vs the female furies. Now I’m going to go watch “Superman/Batman: Apocalypse” cause that fight between Barda, WW and the Furies was sick!!!!

        • Juggernaut

Thanks man That’s another one that I want to see! I’d love to see a sequel with the JL going up against the LOD myself. Luthor, Riddler, Black Manta, Cheetah, Professor Zoom, Sinestro and Ma’alafa’ak. That would be impressive.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Um, that’s what Doom was remember. Lol. Just not that line up.

          • Juggernaut

I mean in a live action sequel to the upcoming JL movie.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Ooooh! Yeah but only after solo movies with each of those villains.

          • Juggernaut

That would be ideal. I think that an after credits scene showing Lex, who most likely will be introduced in Man Of Steel, talking about recruiting members to join his legion. That would be enough of a set up for introducing the Legion in an upcoming movie.

Ona aside note I thought that you may enjoy this. As I was writing this reply my daughter asked me to tie a kitchen towel around her neck and a bath rag around her doll’s neck. She said that she was going to a costume /dance party. I asked if they were going as Batman and Robin and she said “No we/re both going as Robin!” I’m Carrie Kelly and she is Tim Drake. You can be Batman if you want.” Adorable.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

            Best response ever!

          • Juggernaut

Just finished watching Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. I really enjoyed it. I was thinking of some other casting if they decide to incorporate more of Apokalips’ characters. I’d love to see a few female wrestling stars as the Female Furies.
TNA’s Tara (Victoria in WWE) as Lashina, former WWE superstar Chyna as Stompa, WCW’s Daffney as Mad Harriett and WWE’s Kelly Kelly as Gilotina.
Kathleen Turner as Granny Goodness, Angie Harmon as Big Barda, Elisha Cuthbert would make an awesome Supergirl to Henr Cavill’s Superman too!

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

No wrestlers unless they’ve proven they can act a bit, or won’t have too many lines. Could you imagine Chyna as stom0pa delivering lines with her little high voice? And a WCW star? Do you know what she looks like or if she’s done anything since WCW died? But I like Turner as Granny Goodness but I will do you one better with Kathy Bates.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

And I told you that fight between Barda, WW and the furies was sick! Love the WW vs Lashina part!

          • Juggernaut

I see what you’re saying with the wrestlers. Lol. The WCW chick still wrestles on the independant circuit under various names (Lucy Furr, Draculetta, Shannon, Shark Girl). Here is her pic below.
As for the Furies, there wouldn’t need to be much dialogue for them. Use Gilotina as the mouthpiece like B/S: Apocalypse.
I hear that David Bautista is up for the role of Draxx the destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy! That would be cool.
Cathy Bates would be a really good choice for Granny Goodness too. I went with Turner mostly for the grainy voice.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

I figured that’s why you picked her. And Bautista is one with some acting talent. Not a lot, he’s no Rock but he’s got some talent and charisma. And as long as you get the right person I’m all for the furies showing up.

  • 0ptik

i like chris pine as flash much more than chris pine in anything else he’s casted in. That is a good choice.

    • Juggernaut

      Thanks.
