Seems like both the movie and the current animated show are going for an all armored villain theme. I saw a pic of Whiplash for the show and he's in armor too, as was Blizzard when he showed up. I'm not sure I like that, but hey other than the Mandarin most of IM's foes have been armored or possesed tech that gave them abilities. So taking the two and mixing them works.
