James Wan hit it big with the “Saw” films, but he really made a name for himself with his low-budget (by Hollywood standards) low-fi horror flick “Insidious”. A sequel to that movie is on the way, but in the meantime, you’ll be able to catch Wan doing his low-fi horror thing on “The Conjuring”, another Haunted House horror film that relies less on CGI (I’m not even sure if there will be any CGI here) and more on practical effects. That keeps the budget down, and also means the film will turn a profit much faster, without having to rely on huge opening weekends. See: “Insidious”.
Check out the first trailer for “The Conjuring”, which spends all of its time following Lili Taylor’s character as she quickly realizes her bratty kids aren’t the only things she has to worry about in her new home. See, this is why I never liked hide-and-seek as as kid…
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.
Starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver, Sterling Jerins, and coming home this July 19, 2013.
