This morning the folks selling Justin Lin’s “Fast and Furious 6” released a brief 20-second clip featuring a reunion between Dom (Vin Diesel) and Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) at Dom’s swanky new, ill-got villa. Turns out, that was just a small clip from this new, extended, over 3-minutes long trailer for the upcoming film, which shows even more footage, including a rather awesome girl-on-girl brawl between Gina Carano and Michelle Rodriguez. That one got me, er, all excited there. Because, you know, of the fighting.
Anyways, seeing Sung Kang still alive in this one, I wonder if Justin Lin won’t just pretend that “Tokyo Drift” never happened? If he did, then it wouldn’t be the most ludicrous thing the franchise has ever done, which is saying something.
Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete. Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
Not shown in this clip are Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Luke Evans, and Gina Carano.
