Dale, last seen on “Rubicon” (before it was canceled), and before that the aforementioned HBO WWII mini-series “The Pacific”, is the latest name to be added to Shane Black’s “Iron Man 3″. Dale will play a character name Eric Savin, a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army who is “put in charge of Project: Ultra. After he steps on a land mine, cybernetic surgery is performed on him, and Savin’s resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood.”
A cyborg name Coldblood. Heh. Only in comic books. (The character is pictured left, FYI.)
“Iron Man 3″ goes into production this month in North Carolina under the direction of Shane Black, who is taking over the franchise from Jon Favreau. Favreau is still involved in the franchise, though, and you can read more about his involvement here.
Besides Robert Downey Jr. returning as the series superhero, “Iron Man 3″ will also star Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, along with newcomers Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley and Rebecca Hall.
Fresh off the record-shattering “The Avengers”, “Iron Man 3″ bootjets into theaters May 3, 2013.
