James Cameron Doesn’t Want Sam Raimi’s Sloppy Seconds

With his “Avatar” still doing Godly business at the box office for the fifth straight week, and the stink of a “Spider-Man” reboot filling all our nostrils like something that really, really stinks a lot, it was inevitable that someone managed to corner James Cameron and pose the question we’ve all been wondering: “Hows’about directing Spider-Man, James?” As you may or may not know, but there was a time back in the good old days when Cameron slaved on the beginnings of a “Spider-Man” movie, only to never get past the treatment stage. Fortunately for us, MTV managed to corner Cameron on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards, and here is Cameron’s response.

“No, no. It’s a little bit sloppy seconds, let’s face it.”

And just in case you didn’t “get” just how little Cameron thinks of the Spidey franchise as it currently stands, he reiterated his sentiment one more time:

“I haven’t gotten a phone call. I don’t expect to — certainly [not] after this interview. But if you’re thinking about it, it’s sloppy seconds. I’m not interested.”

When asked to comment on Cameron's less-than-stellar response, Spidey ran off in tears.
