Never one to miss an opportunity, director James Cameron will raise his “Titanic” from the depths and shove it into your local cineplex next year for the doomed vessel’s 100th anniversary. Not only will you get to see the film on the big screen once again, savvy movie-goers will also be able to experience the film in the third dimension. I’m almost positive people will mindlessly flock to this one, especially given how many times certain individuals saw this thing during its first theatrical run. You know exactly who you are.
Here’s what Cameron had to say on the subject:
There’s a whole generation that’s never seen ‘Titanic’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘Titanic’ as you’ve never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike.
Oh, boy. As long as Celine Dion doesn’t record a 3D version of that confounded song, I don’t suppose I’ll have anything to complain about. Be sure to mark your calendars for April 6th, 2012. Be sure to stock up on tissues now.
