James McTeigue’s The Raven Adds Alice Eve and Luke Evans

James McTeigue’s serial killer thriller “The Raven” has added Alice Eve (below) and Luke Evans (left) to its cast, which will star John Cusack as the famous author.

Evans replaces Jeremy Renner, who has since left the project to take a co-starring role in “Mission Impossible 4” with Tom Cruise. In the film, Evans will play a Detective who investigates a series of murders alongside Poe.

The catch: the bad guy has kidnapped Poe’s fiancee (Alice Eve) while committing the crimes, which are patterned after Poe’s writings. I guess you can call him a fan. Hey, just cause he kills people doesn’t mean he can’t appreciate art, you know.

Evans is probably unknown to most people, but he had a pretty significant role in the remake of “Clash of the Titans”; admittedly, most of his scenes as Apollo ended up on the cutting room floor, but if you buy the DVD/Blu-ray, you’ll see that he originally had a pretty meaty role that was eventually trimmed significantly. He’s got “The Three Musketeers” and the “Clash of the Titans”-ish “Immortals” coming up.

Alice Eve, of course, you know from “She’s Out of my League”. Also, her name was rumored for a couple of big roles in a couple of Marvel movies, but those doesn’t seem to have panned out.

James McTeigue (“Ninja Assassin”) will direct the period film, which will be set in 1800s Baltimore. Shooting commences later this month in Budapest and Serbia.
