Originally called “The Conjuring”, James Wan’s new horror film has now changed its title to the rather mundane sounding “The Warren Files”. The film has also added two kids to its cast in Mackenzie Foy and Joey King. Both lasses will be playing the younger members of the true-life Perron family, whose escapades are the basis for the film’s storyline.
Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston will play the head of the Perron household, who claimed they “lived among the dead” in their Rhode Island farm in the ’70s. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will play paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who investigate the Perrons’ claims.
Of the two kids, Foy of course was Renesmee Cullen in “The Twilight Saga” movies, while King has a small role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises”.
Wan, coming off the “Saw” films and the low-budget hit “Insidious”, will direct from a script by Chad and Carey Hayes, with production set for later this month in North Carolina. Wan also has a sequel to “Insidious” in the works with his “Saw” buddy Leigh Whannell.
