James Wong to Direct Live-Action Dragon Ball Z Movie

Cheer up, anime lovers — according to the underground dwellers at CHUD, James Wong, late of “The X-Files” TV series and co-creator of the “Final Destination” horror films (not to mention the Jet Li sci-fi actioner “The One”), is currently writing (and will direct) a live-action movie version of the popular “Dragon Ball Z” Japanese anime. The film is supposedly being scheduled to go into production in Canada sometime in November. I say “supposedly” because, well, the idea of making a movie based on a kiddie show about guys with weird hair fighting in some kind of magic tourament is really stup — oh wait, nevermind. This will be a great movie.
CHUD also has character breakdowns for the movie. In the meantime, here’s more about the show from Wikipedia:
Dragon Ball Z is the title of a popular anime series that continues the adaptation of the Dragon Ball manga written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, making it the sequel to the original anime series. It was first released in Japan and Hong Kong, and later elsewhere in the world, first in European countries such as France, Italy and Spain, and later in the United States.
The series follows the adventures of the adult version of Son Goku who, along with his companions, defend the Earth and many other planets against various villains. While the original Dragon Ball anime followed Goku through childhood into adulthood, Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of his adulthood life, but at the same time parallels the maturation of his first child, Son Gohan, and to a lesser extent, his second child, Son Goten. The separation between the series is also significant as the later series takes on a more dramatic and serious tone.
I’ve actually seen the anime show, and I’ve even bought my nephews PS2, DS, and Gameboy versions of the games. Apparently they really love this stuff, so a movie should do well in theaters. But a live-action version…?

Technically this wasn’t a “kiddie” show when it originally aired in Japan and neither was the Manga. When translated into English it was edited down to a “kiddie show”.
DRAGONBALLZ MOVIE PLUS NINJA SCROLL LIVE ACTION FILM.
Dragonball Z is going to the big screen
directed by James Wong and it’s to be filmed in Canada.
Dragonball Z is based on the Japanese anime series created by Akira Toriyama.
Few years ago Mortal Kombat producer Larry Kasanoff has bought the rights to Ninja Scroll from Madhouse back in 2002.
So now the project is dead and Kasanoff’s production company Threshold Entertainment will bring the rights back from the dead as the annoucment comes in the future.
Thank You.

Like i siad make the movie with some sick graphics, fighting style.oh and i dont think i can imagine live action goku’s hair,so please just do the movie with normal regular hair.and please dont make the movie qorny and gay.
this movie has potential to be a good one. however it will depend on the budget, i hope it doesn’t go the rout of the live action street fighter movie with van dam. if u making a movie, make it close to the original. cause if u don’t then call it something else.

i hope they watch or read dragon ball a lot before they making this. akira are you involved?? only you the person that know all about dragon ball. i don’t wanna see dragon ball story and character change from the original.
from the photo, cosplayer-cosplayer much much more good than this character. look at the hair and the costume.
