Jan De Bont’s Stopping Power is Unstoppable

You can’t keep a great movie idea down, apparently. Jan De Bont’s “Stopping Power” was supposed to be dead when a key investor dropped out, and taking his money with him. But now Variety says that a new German investor has stepped up to the plate to keep the $40 million dollar action movie starring John Cusack rolling along. The film’s savior is Internationalmedia, who convinced strategic investor R Media Acquisitions LLC to come into the deal. God Bless the Germans.
More from Variety:
R Media is taking over IM Stopping Power, the company responsible for the project, and will assume all liabilities in connection with the pic’s production.
R Media will appoint a new management for IM Stopping Power and withdraw its application for insolvency.
As part of a wider restructuring, Internationalmedia plans to sell its sales company IM Global, which it set up earlier this year. IM Global will continue to act as sales agent for all future Internationalmedia productions.
You can’t keep a good movie down. So we’ll see that long chase sequence that the movie has been promising after all. Yay.
Update: 10/02/07: Or maybe not. More news that the movie has been cancelled yet again.
