Jane Levy is the Evil Dead Remake’s Female Lead

On the heels of adding Shiloh Fernandez to their remake of “The Evil Dead”, Sam Raimi and the boys have now added Jane Levy, the star of ABC’s “Suburgatory” as the film’s leading lady, a role recently vacated by “Mirror Mirror’s” Lily Collins.

There is actually no real female lead in the original “Evil Dead”, though Embeth Davidtz did fill a sorta-leading lady role in the third movie, 1992’s “Army of Darkness”. In the remake, Levy will play Mia, “one of five young people who head to the remote cabin where evil awaits. Recovering from a recent overdose, Mia is particularly vulnerable.”

Fede Alvarez is directing the remake, which will follow most of the plot beats of the Raimi original, minus an Ash character. Fernandez will play the male lead.

“The Evil Dead” remake scares in 2013.
