I’m honestly not sure if there is anything new here in this latest trailer for Jason Bateman’s directorial debut, “Bad Words,” but it still looks pretty funny. If anything, it’s essentially a shorter version of what you’ve already seen before. In any case, I’m frankly shocked the movie is getting away with making fun of obese kids in today’s world, where just about anything and everything can be considered “bullying.” Sheesh. Where were all this PC crap back when I was going to high school? So unfair.
Anyhoo. Check out a new-ish (though not really) trailer and poster for “Bad Words.”
Bateman stars as Guy Trilby, a 40-year old who finds a loophole in the rules of the National Quill Spelling Bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame. As a reporter attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand of ‘Homeland’), who is completely unfazed by Guy’s take-no-prisoners approach to life.
Starring Jason Bateman, Rohan Chand, Alison Janney, Kathryn Hahn and Phillip Baker Hall.
Winning this March 28th.
