Over the weekend the boys at Hitfix reported that “Game of Thrones'” Jason Momoa has signed on the dotted line to play Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Warner and D.C.’s prelude to a full-blown D.C. Cinematic Movie Universe (aka If Marvel Can Do it, We Can Too, Dammit!)
Today, THR confirms the Hitfix report, saying that Momoa is indeed going to be swimming around in the upcoming superhero film due out in 2016.
The article doesn’t say if this is a cameo appearance that will balloon into a full-blown role in the “Justice League” movie as previous reports have indicated, though that looks likely. After all, when you already have Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, that’s probably enough superheroics for one movie. Apparently Momoa’s Aquaman will not be very pleased with Superman’s actions in “Man of Steel,” in particular that whole World Engine fiasco that played havoc with the world’s oceans.
Momoa joins Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred on the film, along with Holly Hunter, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane. And of course, Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
