Jean-Claude Van Damme Does a Mean Sly Stallone Impression

As you’ll recall, Jean-Claude Van Damme was one of the action stars that Sylvester Stallone had asked to be in “The Expendables”, his ode to all things muscle and explosion blow’em ups. Van Damme turned down the role because Stallone couldn’t tell him what his character would be, or what he would be doing, and simply promised him “lots of money”. Well here’s a video of Van Damme doing a press conference, where the subject of “The Expendables” came up. Van Damme once again relates his conversation with Stallone, and does a pretty damn good Stallone impression to boot. He doesn’t really say anything that we didn’t already reported on previously, but it’s funny listening to him say it anyway. Thanks to reader Tony for the heads up.

that was brilliant – But yeah Jean Claude has a point – you can’t star in a movie without knowing what your part is in the story – Especially after making a critically acclaimed movie such as JCVD. Stallone is one of my idols, regrettably he lost out on casting Van Damme (Who also is brilliant) in The Expendables (which looks ok – I’m more looking forward to Rambo 5.) – Van Damme is always a very good performer and I think he and Stallone would have been dynamite on screen together.

I agree that Van Damme should have agreed to do the film, but I don’t think his ego would have let him. To go from major motion picture star to just another ‘schlub’ would have smacked of desperation, and that’s what the current cast embodies. And in fact, “Universal Soldier: Regeneration” might even be better than what this film will end up like. I’m gonna wait for the DVD.

“Rambo” was suitably dark, and this film trailer only succeeds in making it look too retro. Stallone should also give himself as few lines as possible.
