Jeremy Renner and Noomi Rapace are Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters?

Looks like “Dead Snow” guy Tommy Wirkola’s re-imagining of the Hansel & Gretel tale, “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” is moving right along, if this latest report is to be believed.

The Wrap says (via a very short Twitch blurb) that new “Mission Impossible” badass spy Jeremy Renner has parlayed his role in the Oscar winning “The Hurt Locker” into yet another role, this time as Hansel in Wirkola’s movie, where he’ll be co-starring alongside “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s” Noomi Rapace.

(Cuiously, Rapace was recently in Hollywood considering a role in “Mission Impossible 4”, the same movie Renner has just been cast in as Tom Cruise’s new partner-in-spying.)

All of this stems from something Renner might have said to a Norwegian website called Dagsavien. And I stress the might part; I can’t tell you the number of times a report has proven false when the original source was a “foreign newspaper” or a “foreign website” that someone had to translate. Things tend to either get lost in translation, or in some cases, added.

In any case, with or without Renner and Rapace, Wirkola’s movie would take place 15 years after the sibling’s run-in with a certain witch in a certain gingerbread house. Now adults, the siblings have become feared witch hunters. I blame it on their sugar addiction myself.

'Oh come on, it's just a gingerbread house in the middle of nowhere. What could possibly go wrong?'
