If you haven’t been watching TNT’s new caper show Leverage, you should definitely give it a shot. Granted, it’s not going to win a lot of awards, but it’s got a fun, cool vibe about it that makes it worth a spot in my DVR’s queue. I like it for the same reason I like the USA Network’s Burn Notice show — it’s just cool and I always enjoy myself at the end of the day. That’s really all I want from my TV shows, to be perfectly honest with you. Anyways, all that is to say that former Star Trek babe Jeri Ryan will be joining the show in a recurring role.
THR says Ryan, who was most recently in the CBS legal drama Shark, will play Tara, a smart-ass, street-wise con woman whom Sophie (Gina Bellman) calls on for help and who gets sucked into the Leverage family. That “family” is led by Timothy Hutton, and features tough guy Eliot (Christian Kane), tech geek Hardison (Aldis Hodge), and high-flying burglar Parker (Beth Riesgraf). Bellman plays the show’s resident con woman.
Leverage’s current roster is pretty good as is, so hopefully Ryan will remain a semi-regular and not a regular. Nothing against the gal, she’s certainly easy enough on the eyes, but I like the show’s current cast dynamics as is. No need to upset the cart when the show is just entering its second season. At least give it another couple of years before throwing the fresh hottie into the mix.
Below: The Leverage gang. It’s one big happy fake family.
