Jessica Alba Joins Mike Myers’ The Love Guru

Mike Myers’ latest comedy, “The Love Guru”, has found its leading lady in Jessica Alba, who, word has it, is up North in Myers home country reshooting scenes from her remake of the horror “The Eye”. She’ll be joining a cast that already includes Myers, Romany Malco (“Blades of Glory”), and Verne Troyer (Mini-Me from the “Austin Powers” movies). “The Love Guru” is some kind of sports comedy, with hockey (the favorite sport of Canucks everywhere, Myers being a Canuck) being the sport in question. The premise doesn’t sound very good, but then again, I’m sure Myers’ comedic chops and a sure-to-be flimsily dressed Alba is what will sell tickets.

The premise from Variety:

In his first new character creation since Austin Powers, Myers plays Pitka, an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. After moving back to the U.S., he attempts to settle a rift between a hockey player (Malco) and his wife, who begins scoring with the star player of a rival team. Alba plays the hockey team owner and Troyer the team coach. Pitka’s job is to check that illicit romance and reunite the couple so the star player can lead his team to the championship.

Eh, I’d rather have another Austin Powers movie.
