Jessica Chastain Joins Pitt in Malick’s Tree of Life

Even when he’s bad, he’s fascinating, so yes, I am looking forward to Terrence Malick’s latest, “The Tree of Life”, a drama that he has written and will direct. Not least of which because he’s got himself Brad Pitt to play the lead (having replaced the late Heath Ledger), and Pitt has been choosing some very fascinating roles lately. The latest news about the project is that actress Jessica Chastain has joined the cast as the female lead opposite Pitt.

Variety:

The story concerns the loss of innocence as seen through the eyes of the son of the characters portrayed by Pitt and Chastain. Sean Penn appears in a supporting role.

Chastain has done mostly TV work in her career, guest starring on Law and Order, Veronica Mars, and Close to Home. She has a few movies to her credit, but is otherwise pretty much an unknown name and face.
