Jessica Chastain, who has been in obscene number of films the last couple of years (at times it was easier to name the movies she’s not in than the one she is in, or up for) won’t be at least one movie — next year’s sure-to-be Summer hit “Iron Man 3″. The actress, who has been attached to a major role in the comic book sequel since April, beat the trades to the punch by posting the news on her Facebook page.
Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I’m very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx
Just as well. I know Chastain is talented and can do lots of roles, but I’m just not sure I’m ready to see her in a big-budget comic book movie. She just seems so incongruous with that sort of material.
“Iron Man 3″, to be written and directed by Shane Black, will find Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man facing a terrorist threat led by one Ben Kingsley. The film is scheduled to shoot this Summer for a 2013 release date. The storyline is expected to borrow heavily from Warren Ellis’ “Extremis” Iron Man comic book story arc.
