Jessica Lucas Will Lead the CW’s Cult

The CW LogoI still have no idea how the CW’s new show from “Farscape” creator Rockne S. O’Bannon can possibly sustain a full season, much less seasons, based purely on this premise:

An inquisitive, young female production assistant on a wildly popular television show called Cult who, after a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, joins a journalist blogger in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program in real life.

So what, they solve a new murder every week? Or is that just the basis for the first episode, after which we discover that the show within the show is actually a front run by vampires? Or zombies? Or aliens? Please let it be aliens.

But hey, the show is from O’Bannon, so I have faith that he knows what he’s doing and we’ll get a show that is finally worth watching on the CW. Besides, you know, “Nikita” and “Supernatural”. The rest of the network’s shows? Dear God.

In any case, the big news is that Jessica Lucas (of “Cloverfield” fame) has landed the female lead on “Cult”, and will play a character name Skye, that “inquisitive, young female production assistant” mentioned in the premise description above.

Still uncast: the fearless “journalist blogger”.

Jessica Lucas
