Nix,

I think Jackie is actually misrepresented by the media in the US and elsewhere.

Granted that Jackie has always disliked the lack of artistic input and control in his US productions however there's a cultural element that many Westerners don't appreciate.

That is, when it appears that Jackie is badmouthing his US productions he is actually committing an act of modesty so that he downplays all the hype that surrounds him and his movies.

This is because Western culture is heavily dictated by image and commerce that is brewed by the mass media. Jackie knows this but people aren't aware that he's had a completely different upbringing where substance rules over style such is the Asian way.

You simply have to look at his Asian movies compared to his US movies - they are much more hardcore and technically superior martial arts wise.

Jackie is really a down to earth guy - you wouldn't believe the amount of charity and goodwill he's done for organisations and people all over the world - check out his official website.

You need to read some of the articles written by Asian media in comparison so that you get a bigger and clearer picture.

Seriously? You don't see the difference between you going to work to MAKE A LIVING, and Chan VOLUNTARILY doing yet another Rush Hour movie, a franchise he hates so much he constantly bitches about, because he wants the money? Really? You don't see the difference? Wow. Nevermind, then.

If doing something strictly for the pay makes you a whore than the whole world is whores. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to the cracker factory, and let me tell you you-Whose Saltine do I have to blow to get Rush Hour 3 money?

>>He’s working. He’s making money. He’s retaining his original audience by admiting his movies suck these days. Sounds smart to me.<<

Dude, the girl who blew Eliot Spitzer for $5000 an hour is smart, too, but that still doesn't make her anything other than a whore.

Let's not loose sight that this movie basically looks like Last Action Hero with kung-fu. Personally I don't care if Jackie Chan bad mouths his western movies-I bad mouth them too. The west has been death to the careers of Jackie,Jet Li,Chow Yun Fat and John Woo. I can't blame them for coming to the west either-better pay, better work conditions. Personally I give Chan credit. Rush Hour movies suck? Of course they do. Forbidden Kingdom not that good? What a shocker. He's working. He's making money. He's retaining his original audience by admiting his movies suck these days. Sounds smart to me.
