Jet Li and Tsui Hark Reteam for 3D Dragon Inn Remake

The boys behind the “Once Upon a Time in China” action series, star Jet Li and producer/director Tsui Hark, are set to reunite for a remake of King Hu’s “Dragon Inn”. The film has already been remade once already in 1992, with Tony Leung, Brigitte Lin, Maggie Cheung and Donnie Yen, but that was in plain ol 2D. The new version will be in 3D, cause, you know, that’s what all the kids are digging nowadays.

In the film, Jet Li will play a Ming Dynasty General name Chow Wai-On, whose battles with a power-hungry eunuch (are there any other kind?) named Tsao Siu-Yan comes to a climax at the titular Dragon Inn.

“Painted Skin” beauty Zhou Xun (below) will play the inn’s seductive owner, Jade. She’s supposedly the love interest for Jet Li’s character, or as much a love interest as any woman can possibly be in a movie starring Jet Li. Jet doesn’t exactly do a whole lot of smooching in his movies.

Shooting is set for September.

What i really want to see is a SERIOUS movie with Tony Jaa and Jet-Li as enemies that turn into partners. Maybe Tony Jaa as “Shang-Chi” and Jet Li as “The Cat”. Maybe then they can cameo in Iron Fist too.

Problem is that if you don't live in a territory where Hong Kong/Chinese movies are given a proper theatrical release, the 3D is kind of pointless.

You could buy a 3D TV, I suppose. I'll be happy when the fad dies, though.
