Jimmy Fallon is Still Working in the Movies. Seriously.
Whip It (2009) Movie — By Nix on August 19, 2008 |
Remember when Hollywood tried to turn Saturday Night Live giggling machine Jimmy Fallon into a movie star? Yeah, it didn’t turn out so good. In fact, it turned out pretty bloody awful. But hey, thems the breaks when you try to make a second-tier comedian known more for giggling like school girl at his own jokes into a bona fide movie star. You get egg on your face. But shockingly, after a series of bombs, Jimmy Fallon is back in the movies — this time in a co-starring role in a movie being produced and directed by Drew Barrymore, his “Fever Pitch” co-star. Or at least, that’s what the Interwebs is saying.
Slashfilm found out the news for all you Jimmy Fallon fans out there (yes, I’m talking to all 9 of you):
I haven’t seen this officially reported anywhere, so I thought I’d pass along word that Jimmy Fallon has been cast in Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut Whip It! Fallon has been spotted by /Film sources on set of the roller derby dramedy playing “Hot Tub Johnny”, a cheesy hungover announcer who makes nasty comments to all the skaters. My sources have also spotted Andrew Wilson, brother of of Owen and Luke (fans of Wes Anderson know as “Future Man” in Bottle Rocket), who is playing a roller derby coach. The film stars Ellen Page as “an indie-rock loving misfit” who finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin Texas. Whip It! is currently in production.
“Whip It!” co-stars Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore, Marcia Gay Harden, Juliette Lewis, Alia Shawkat , Zoe Bell, Kristen Wiig, and now the comedic stylings of Jimmy Fallon.
I know what you’re thinking: “Where can I get tickets, like, NOW, dammit!” Whoa, hold onto your horses, kemosabe. The film is still in production, and won’t be released until 2009. But don’t worry, you’ll be the first to know when the movie becomes available. Promise.

Fallon is married to Drew Barrymore’s business partner – so she either cast him as a favor or he was cheap. Probably both.
Nothing wrong with him in supporting roles. He was perfectly fine in Almost Famous.
Wow, that is harsh. I like Jimmie fallon! He’s fricken hilarious in real life. And nice too. Prolly nicer than you.
He replaced Justin Long who quit after breaking up with Drew Barrymore. It’s just a small ‘bit’ part anyway, and he’s funny in it!
