The first four actors joining the shark-infested waters include Sinqua Walls, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz and Joel David Moore (left), who many will no doubt remember as the tall, funny guy from “Avatar”. The rest? I have absolutely no idea, though Daiz (below) is what the kids would call purty, and she counts the live-action “Ben 10” as one of her credits.
“Shark Night 3-D” will be directed by David R. Ellis, the man who gave us “Snakes on a Plane” about, well, snakes on a plane and a couple of “Final Destination” movies. He’ll be directing from a script by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes. And the plot? Pretty standard teen slasher nonsense, but hopefully it’ll be fun teen slasher nonsense:
The story revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana’s Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.
That’ll show those city slickers and their city slickin’ ways. Expect plenty of “boondocks” jokes and “I can’t get any reception!” cellphone plot points.
The THR article goes on to list the charaters the actors will be playing, but aside from Moore as the comic relief who thinks he’s the second coming of Brad Pitt (oh, that Joel David Moore), does it matter?
Filming is expected to commence in September on location in Louisiana.
