One of those films that may help jump-start the genre is “Jane Got a Gun”, a film that’s set to star Natalie Portman as the titular Jane, a prairie lass who seeks help from her ex-gunfighter lover (to be played by Micahel Fassenber) when her husband comes home all shot to pieces.
The Lynne Ramsey-directed film, set to shoot early next year, is now looking at Joel Edgerton to play the villain role of one John Bishop, the head of an outlaw gang determined to finish off Jane’s hubby.
Still uncast: Jane’s no-good outlaw husband.
Edgerton is coming off the hunt for Osama Bin Laden in Kathryn Bigelow’s red hot “Zero Dark Thirty”, a film that seems to be notable for two things — it’s about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, and apparently Jessica Chastain is killing it in the flick, if all the hardware she’s getting (and being rumored for) are any indication.
Here’s a look at Edgerton in “Zero Dark Thirty”. My guess is, he’ll have to ditch the fancy combat suit for a cowboy hat and six-shooter in “Jane Got a Gun”, but I’ve been wrong before.
