It’s Ramses versus Moses all over again — this time as played by Joel Edgerton and Christian Bale, respectively, in 20th Century Fox’s biblical epic “Exodus”.
The film, another retelling of the epic clash between Egyptian ruler Ramses (Edgerton) and Moses (Bale) for the soul of the people and of course, their freedom, will be directed by Ridley Scott. He will direct from a script by Steve Zaillian, who re-wrote the original script by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage that was sold to 20th Century Fox way back in 2009.
When I first wrote about this movie four years ago, the film was supposed to be shot in the style of Zack Snyder’s “300″, but that might have faded a bit and you might be seeing a more traditional/non-”300″-style movie. Of course, who knows with Scott.
One thing’s for sure, with Scott behind the camera and talents like Edgerton and Bale in front of it, “Exodus” should be pretty damn epic.
Edgerton is coming off “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Great Gatsby”, while Bale is, of course, coming off “The Dark Knight Rise”, and has the crime films “American Hustle” and “Out of the Furnace” in the pipeline.
The film is scheduled to shoot this September on location in Spain, Morocco and England.
