John Gulager’s Piranha 3DD Gets Bumped Until 2012

Correction: Sometime in 2012, as a definite date has yet to be set. This has got be be a serious bummer for those of you who were hoping to feast your eyes on director John Gulager’s “Piranha 3DD” this Thanksgiving. The film was originally supposed to hit theaters here in the States on November 23rd, 2011, but, apparently, that’s no longer the case. Considering that neither an official poster nor a trailer of any sort has found its way onto various genre-related websites, I’m honestly not that surprised. Considering November is just around the corner, it was starting to seem rather strange that the promotional machine wasn’t already in full effect.

“Piranha 3DD”, of course, is the sequel to Alexandre Aja’s 2010 gorefest “Piranha 3D”, a film that was far more entertaining that it had any right to be. Considering the film’s questionable financial success, I’m kind of shocked that we’re actually getting a follow-up. Not that I’m complaining, mind you. I’m always in the market for a motion picture featuring gratuitous nudity and wanton violence. I guess I’ll just have to bide my time until next year.

If you’re in the market for a quick, 30-second clip of Jerry O’Connell screaming about his penis from “Piranha 3D”, take a gander at the video below. It’s not safe for work, and it does contain spoilers, but it’s damn funny. Plus, you know, it’s Jerry O’Connell.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
