John Leguizamo is on a roll. The man behind lovable scamp Sid in the “Ice Age” movies has landed roles in two major upcoming films that couldn’t be more different — Ridley Scott’s gritty drama “The Counselor” and the comic book sequel “Kick Ass 2″.
Leguizamo joins the stellar cast of Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz in Scott’s “The Counselor”, where he’s scheduled to play a low level drug dealer. I’m guessing there will be more to the character than just that. Probably. Or not.
He’ll definitely have a bigger role in the Jeff Wadlow-directed “Kick Ass 2″, though, where he’s been signed to play Javier, “the bodyguard assigned to protect aspiring evil guy Red Mist”. Christopher Mintz-Plasse will reprise the character of Red Mist, with Chloe Moretz and Aaron Johnson also expected back as Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass, respectively.
Leguizamo, of course, was last seen in “Ice Age: Continental Drift”, where he’s been spending a lot of his time, and why not? Leguizamo probably voices the most popular character in the whole franchise, and I bet he’s making a mint out of that lisp-heavy rodent. Or whatever that thing is.
