Robert De Niro and Al Pacino isn’t going at their monumental team-up alone, it seems, as they’ve added five more names to the cast, with one notable — John Leguizamo. The other four are Dan Futterman, Trilby Glover, professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek, and earlier this week, veteran actor Brian Dennehy was said to be in negotiations to join the flick. No doubt Dennehy will play the burly police Sergeant or Captain or someone burly like that. He’ll probably be unlikeable, too, as Dennehy oftentimes ends up playing the Asshole Authority Figure in most movies involving guns. No word on Leguizamo’s character.
“Righteous Kill” is being directed by Jon Avnet, and is about two police detectives played by Al Pacino and Robert De Niro investigating vigilante killings in New York. Last month it was announced that Carla Gugino had joined the cast as “the female lead, a crime-scene investigator with a dark personal life who enters into a relationship with De Niro’s character.”
Which leads me to this: whoever is writing the copy for all of these characters better watch out, because they’re coming dangerously close to spoiling the film’s major twist ending. I haven’t read the script, I haven’t seen the movie, and I don’t know anyone on the production, but I’m beginning to get the sneaky suspicion that I know the film’s ending.
