Even though it wasn’t directed by Tim Burton I would have to say Batman Forever is also better than the new Batman movies. Jim Carrey as the Riddler and Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face were amazing.”
Are you serious? Sure as campy fun comic movies they were good, but by no means better than today’s franchise. Looking back Nicholson was the best thing about the original, and the other villains were the only good thing woth watching in those movies, except for Mr. Freeze, Bane, and Poison Ivy, from Batman and Robin. Keaton was better at “VOICING” Batman, but his Bruce Wayne and even his Batman was lacking in the development department, therewasn’t much time spent on his personal issues, excpet in Batman Forever. The new franchise does a remarkable job at grounding it in reality, but still having a sense of the fantastic. I think Depp would make a great Riddler. Someone who’s ego just won’t allow them to commit a crime, but HAS to leave a clue behind for the sake of the chase. Burton and Depp make an amazing team, and I’m a great fan of Burton’s work (which is why I like Batman and Batman Returns to this day, as he brought that dark noir feel to the franchise, when all we had before was the campy 60’s show, but even his Joker and Penguin, though distrubing were campy, and more comicy), but I prefer the Nolan Batmanverse to the Burton Batmanverse, and I’d like to forget all about what Schumacher did to Gotham with it’s neon and over abundance of statues.

Johnny Depp is amazing! The plot of any movie can be complete and utter twaddle-speak and it would still be good because of his wondrous acting. Alice in Wonderland is going to be amazing; Tim Burton/Johnny Depp pairing always makes a wonderful film. Also the fact that they are sticking rigidly to the book means it will be fanatastic – Lewis Carroll was an amazing writer!
I have never heard of The Lone Ranger but if they get good enough talent it should be a hit.
I will never grow tired of seeing Captain Jack Sparrow on my television screen, even if the plot withers away into nothing.
Probably going to cause some people to keel over in shock because of my next comment but who cares?!:

If you look at Depp’s career it isn’t about the money, it’s about the parts and characters he plays. He never said no to Batman 3, but that’s still a long ways off. Alice in WOlderland is a chance to work with his buddy Tim Burton again, and Lone Ranger, well that’s just a classic, and I’m sure the kid in him is just happy to be a part of it. I’m sure he’s gonna be a bad ass tonto.

The fourth pirates will be absolutely awesome!!! Alice in wonderland will be great (providing the march hair is someone really good who can live up to johnny depp) don’t rly care about lone ranger. wouldn’t mind seeing him as the riddler though

Pirates 4 is either going to be really really good or its going to suck, I don’t see much middle ground. Alice in Wonderland is going to be awesome, and I hope the Lone Ranger is too.

Jonny Depp is in fact 1/4 Cherokee Indian, hence the narrow eyes and high cheek bones. His grandfather was Full bood Cherokee. Have you ever seen “the Brave” ? He pulls the Native thing off very well.

I swear I will go and *ahem* ‘debate’ this problem with the manager of the corporation, because they’re making another National Treasure, another High School Musical (which wasn’t even good to begin with), and another PotC makes it lucky number three.

How about an actual American Indian actor as Tonto, like the great Adam Beach? But, despite that, Depp can pull it off. I heard they’re looking at George Clooney to play the Ranger.

Ironic since Clooney was tapped to play the Green Hornet (with Jet Li as Kato) a while back. The Green Hornet, alias Britt Reid, was the son of Dan Reid, John Reid, AKA the Lone Ranger’s nephew.
