It looks like Kathyrn Bigelow and Mark Boals really want more Oscars. At least that’s what I can glean from the casting rumors flying around their newest project, “Triple Frontier”, or as it appears that it is now known, “Sleeping Dogs”.
Early yesterday Deadline reported that Tom Hanks was sniffing around the project, seriously considering one of the five primary roles the film has to offer. Shortly after that, they amended that report and let added one more big name to the discussion, Johnny Depp. He is reportedly interested in starring opposite Hanks, though scheduling may be an issue, as he is set to appear in “Dark Shadows” for director Tim Burton, which is also being produced by Depp’s production company.
“Sleeping Dogs” is about the crime-ridden area known at the Triple Frontier, where the borders of Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina meet. Due to the geography of the region it is a haven for smugglers, criminals and terrorists. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2011.
